A Valentine Treat: Lancelot-Royer Blanc de Blancs at a discount price

1aaFor Valentines, what better than some wonderful bubbly, in this instance Champagne. A small section of the market, around 4%, are known as recoltant manipulates, denoted by the initials RM on their bottles of wine. These produces make wine from the grapes they themselves grow without buying any grapes. Their’s are delicious wines that happen to have bubbles and be called Champagne.

One newly discovered treat with these grower champagnes is that they reward aging. A few years in bottle after disgorgement allows the wine to develop and grow in breadth a little. This bottling from Lancelot Royer gives you a chance to experience this without having to hold the wine in your own cellar. This wine was disgorged in 2013 and is drinking deliciously right now. It is a blanc de blanc, so 100% Chardonnay, and has nice honeyed notes intermingling with the dried apricot and white peach notes and a nice rich yeasty to the wine. The only challenge will be how difficult the bottle disappears as it is so easy drinking. If you enjoy a balanced yeasty note to your champagne, this is the wine for you.

It is regularly $49 and I am selling it for $39. For Valentines I will offer an additional 10% off any bottles purchased.
