A Baby Amarone??

by Russ Anderson on September 9, 2015

1aThis wine, from Tuscany, is made by an Amarone producer from the Veneto, Tommasi. It is a blend of Sangiovese, the local Tuscan staple, and Cabernet Sauvignon present in many of Tuscany’s ‘Super Tuscan’ wines. In the glass, it has more in common with an Amarone or at least a ripasso. There is an opulence and depth of flavor with ripe red fruits intermingling with flavors of blueberry and a touch of chocolate and raisin.

This is a crowd pleasing wine and at $14 a real bargain. It is a welcome addition around the grill or paired with some braised beef ribs and other slow cooked dishes. I’m down to a case in the store right now, so email or call if you would like to be sure to have some for the weekend.
